Dexis Technology

Advanced Dexis Technology

By utilizing the most advanced technology available, our office ensures that each patient achieves optimal results. Some of the state of the art technology we have implemented at our office includes Dexis digital x-rays, Dexis intra-oral digital photography and the Dexis Carivue cavity detection.

Dexis Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays provide high-resolution images without unnecessary radiation exposure. Digital x-rays emit up to 90 percent less radiation than traditional x-rays and provide better quality images for more accurate diagnoses.

We can instantly access your digital x-rays, without the wait time to develop film. Dr. Babbitt can display your x-rays on the in-room monitors right away. This is useful when explaining dental conditions or treatment options.

We securely store your images in your digital chart and can compare them over time. We can also send any necessary x-rays to your insurance company, when necessary, to process your claims efficiently.

Dexis Intra-Oral Camera

An intraoral camera is a small, handheld digital camera designed to take pictures inside your mouth. We can snap digital pictures of a cracked tooth, gum conditions, or even damaged restorations and then show them to you on our in-room monitors. When you can see what we see, your conditions and treatment options make a lot more sense.

We can store these images in your digital chart and compare them over time. We can also submit them to your insurance company when additional documentation is required for approval and payment of treatment.

CariVu Cavity Detection

The DEXIS CariVu is a compact, portable decay detection device that works by using patented transillumination technology. This helps us identify occlusal, interproximal, and recurrent decay and cracks without using X-rays. The DEXIS CariVu hugs the tooth and bathes it in safe, near-infrared light that makes enamel appear transparent. Porous lesions, such as those caused by decay or cracking, trap and absorb the light so they appear as dark areas, similar to how they appear on X-rays. This unique decay detector enables us to see through the tooth, exposing its structure and the actual structure of any decay with very high accuracy. Our dentists can then determine the best available course of action and present you with treatment options so we can improve your oral health.

If you would like to learn more about how we use the DEXIS CariVu in to provide you with accurate dental care, please feel free to check out this video and contact our Ventura office at (805) 653-1775. We are happy to answer any questions you may have and provide you with the information you need.
